Health reporting has two jobs: explain the evidence and make the limits clear. Daily Junction covers medical research, NHS policy, public health and wellbeing without turning early findings into certainty or general information into individual diagnosis.

How to read a health headline
Check whether a finding comes from people, animals, cells or a computer model. Look for the number of participants, the size of the effect and whether the study shows causation or only an association. One paper can be important without settling a question, especially when it has not yet been replicated.
The NHS is the starting point for UK patient guidance. Public-health data and alerts are published by the UK Health Security Agency, while evidence reviews are available from NICE. Official services differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so check the relevant national health service where location matters.
When information is not enough
An article cannot assess symptoms or replace a clinician. Use NHS 111 or the relevant urgent-care route when you need medical advice, and call emergency services for an immediate threat to life. For mental-health crisis support, follow current NHS guidance or contact an appropriate crisis service.
